The system has advanced capabilities for data processing and many useful functions accessible to the operator via the front panel function keys:

• Manual input of fuel oil specific gravity and calorific value.
• Automatic correction of fuel oil gravity for temperature.
• All fuel data can be presented as observed or corrected to a reference calorific value.
• Calculation of fuel oil calorific value if bunkers data are unavailable.
• Fuel consumption for aux. engines and boilers can also be displayed. 

The KPM system gives you vital information concerning:

• Total control of energy consumption and output.
• Immediate feedback of any action taken to improve vessel operation.
• Parameters for determining the optimum trim at any load or draft.
• Evaluation of specific fuel rate irrespective of fuel quality.

Due to its modular design, the system can easily be configured to various types of marine propulsion plants, for recording of the total energy flow from fuel input, engine power output and ship speed. With these three parameters all on-line to the same system, the efficiencies of energy conversion from the main engine, propeller, hull and vessel overall are directly available. These data can then be used for the optimization of vessel operation.
